The Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation, and Science, James Lawless, announced <\/a>the reciepients of \u20ac23.6 M in funding through Research Ireland<\/a>‘s ‘Frontiers for the Future’ grants this week. Five Principal Investigators<\/a> at the Ollscoil na Gaillimhe.<\/a> have been awarded funds under this scheme, four of which are hosted at our own reseach centre. More than \u20ac5 million in funding will go toward expanding the research of the Gahan<\/a>, Lowndes<\/a>, Morrison<\/a>, agus Santocanale<\/a> groups into new frontiers of research in chromosome biology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These announcements come on the heels of the Frank <\/a>group being awarded a Wellcome Trust<\/a> Discovery Award for further research in Hydractinia. When it comes to good news at the CCB – when it rains, it pours! We congratulate all the research groups in their awards and wish them success in their new frontiers alongside their fellow colleagues at the CCB with ongoing projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
