Prof Uri Frank of the Grúpa Frank is one of 100 “outstanding scientists” to have been recently appointed as a member of EMBO on this year, the 60th anniversary of EMBO. He joins a collective of more than 2,000 “leading life scientists in Europe” which include amongst them 92 Nobel Laureates. The research of the Grúpa Frank, which has focused on cell fate and identity in the context of evolutionary development, has been recognised in his membership election to meet the EMBO mission statement of “excellence in the life sciences”.

Prof Frank is the third member of the CCB to gain EMBO membership alongside Prof Noel Lowndes (Director) and Prof Brian McStay of the Grúpa Lowndes and Grúpa McStay respectively.

We congratulare Prof Frank on this achievement and echo the sentiments of the EMBO Director:

“The new EMBO Members and Associate Members have made immense contributions to fundamental life science research, and, in many cases, their work has paved the way for innovations that have improved lives and livelihoods around the world. As EMBO marks its 60th anniversary, we celebrate the pivotal roles played by the EMBO Membership in strengthening international life science research and contributing to the EMBO Programmes and activities. I send my warmest congratulations to all those elected.”
